Alloying elements include carbon, copper, sulfur, manganese, phosphorus, and chromium, and the resulting material is called an alloy steel. Carbon Steel

Carbon Steel is a malleable, iron-based metal containing carbon, small amounts of manganese, and other elements to make the material useful for many different applications. It is the most widely used engineering material, accounting for nearly 85% of annual steel production. Carbon steels are the base metals widely used in manufacturing today around the world in nearly every industry, including aerospace, aircraft, automotive, chemical, defense, marine, petroleum production and refining. Tool Steel

Tool Steel was created primarily to cut and machine other types of metal, such as alloy steel, carbon steel, nickel alloys, aluminum, and magnesium. Its basic characteristic is that it is harder than the material that it is cutting or machining; therefore, tool steel is always used in the heat treated condition. There are a multitude of tool steel groups, such as air hardening, oil hardening, water hardening, and shock resisting, as well as cold working, hot working, high speed, mold steels and special purpose tool steel.
