This is a solid-solution strengthened alloy. It has excellent resistance to oxidation and a wide range of corrosive media plus excellent high temperature strength.
Especially useful at temperatures in excess of 1800 F the alloy is used in gas turbines for combustion cans and ducts as well as industrial furnace components and applications where high-temperature corrosion resistance is important.
Conventional machining techniques used for iron based alloys may be used. This alloy does work-harden during machining and has higher strength and "gumminess" not typical of steels. Heavy duty machining equipment and tooling should be used to minimize chatter or work-hardening of the alloy ahead of the cutting.
