Inconel 751

Principal Design Features

This alloy is a slightly modified chemistry version of Inconel X-750. The aluminum content has been increased in order to impart improved rupture strength in the 1600 F range.

Applications

Applications are those where hot strength in the 1600 F range is of major importance. One such specific use is for exhaust valves on heavy duty diesel engines.

Machinability

Conventional machining techniques used for iron based alloys may be used. This alloy does work-harden during machining and has higher strength and "gumminess" not typical of steels. Heavy duty machining equipment and tooling should be used to minimize chatter or work-hardening of the alloy ahead of the cutting.
