General Characteristics of Allvac® Ti-17

Allvac® Ti-17 is a beta-rich, alpha-beta alloy appropriately used in beta and alpha-beta applications. Often referred to as grade 17, Allvac® Ti-17 offers improved tensile and creep strengths than Ti-6Al-4V.

• Titanium balance

Heat Treatment of Allvac® Ti-17

• Alpha-beta
  • First treatment: 1501° to 1580°F (815° to 860°C), then rapidly air cool
  • Second solution treatment: 1472°F (800°C), then water quenching
• Beta
  • Anneal by holding at 1472°F (800°C) for 4 hours
• Aging treatment for beta and alpha-beta is 1148° to 1213°F (620° to 656°C) for 8 hours

Applications of Allvac® Ti-17

• Compressor and fan discs
• Other applications requiring high strength

Formability of Allvac® Ti-17

• Alpha-beta forge from 1499° to 1580°F (815° to 860°C)
• Beta forge from 1652° to 1796°F (900° to 980°C)

Weldability of Allvac® Ti-17

• Employ highly alloyed alloys to enhance corrosion resistance
• Obtain better corrosion resistance by annealing after welding
• Remove lubricants before welding and heat treatment
