General Characteristics of VascoMax 250 (Maraging 250)

VascoMax 250 (Maraging 250) is a strong, nickel alloy with outstanding ductility, offering ease of machining and forming. VascoMax 250 resists corrosion from saltwater and industrial atmospheres and can be readily welded.

Heat Treatment of VascoMax 250

• Anneal by holding at 1475° to 1525°F (802° to 829°C) for one hour for every inch of thickness, then air cool
• Age after solution anneal by holding at 875° to 925°F ( 468° to 496°C) between 3 and 6 hours, then air cool

Machinability of VascoMax 250

• Difficult to machine when fully hardened
• Can be readily machined when solution treated or annealed
• Similar to Vasco 4340
• Rough turning with high-speed steel tools

Workability of VascoMax 250

• Forge between 2300° and 1600°F (1260° to 871°C)
• Roll between 1900° and 1500°F (1038° and 816°C)
• Annealing can increase hardness from 28 to 30 Rockwell C to 35 Rockwell C
