Nickel Alloys, Cobalt Alloys, Special Alloys and Super Alloys

This group of materials, Nickel Alloys, Cobalt Alloys, Special Alloys and Super Alloys is primarily used in extremely high temperature and/or corrosive environments, such as jet engines, power generation applications, chemical plants, and oil rigs. Typically, nickel alloys or cobalt alloys are used in environments where the use temperatures are in access of 1000 degrees F.

Due to their chemical compositions, materials tend to be quite expensive, with long lead times from the mills. Steel service centers tend not carry large inventories of expensive materials, sometimes making it difficult to obtain, particularly in immediate repair situations.

Some of the more well-known trademarked alloys include Inconel®, Hastelloy®, Monel®, Nitronic®, CBS600, Haynes 188®, L605, and Rene 41®. These also tend to be price volatile with the longest mill lead times, as mush as 52 weeks or more.

All Metals & Forge, known as the “Specialty Steel Specialist,” maintains fairly large inventories of a broad spectrum of the nickel alloys, cobalt alloys, special alloys and super alloys in all mill forms including sheet, strip, plate, foil, round bar, square bar, flat bar, hex bar, tube, pipe and wire, as well as billet for forging. Please see our complete list of alloys shown below.

AM&F also supplies custom hand-rolled bar in rounds, flats, square, hex and custom shapes up to 2 ¼ inch (57.15 mm), as well as in between sizes that are not commercially available.

Please see our Forging Capabilities Chart for information on nickel forgings. Nickel forged products include blocks, bars, shafts, disks, hubs, flanges, rings, seamless rolled rings, seamless contoured rolled rings.

If you need a custom or controlled chemistry, AM&F can provide vacuum melting quantities from 250 to 25,000 pounds. Please see our custom melting section for more information.

For value-added services, such as cold and hot forming, heat treating, cutting, machining, rolling and welding, please see our Value-Added Services section.
